Conley Resigns to Run for Hays County Judge

Hays County Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley has announced his resignation as precinct commissioner to run for County Judge in 2018.

The Texas Constitution requires that any elected county official who announces his candidacy for another office more than a year before his current term expires must resign his current position. Commissioner Conley’s term expires December 31, 2020. The Constitution also requires that the current County Judge must accept his resignation and appoint a successor for the position before the resignation is considered in effect.
