Lawmaker warns of scams taking advantage of illegal immigrants

Scam artists are taking advantage of the surge of illegal immigration from Central America.

There is a lot of misinformation swirling around the immigration process. smugglers tell them they'll be let go with a 'permiso'. the courts tell them to appear. Now, scam artists, acting as lawyers, calling themselves "Notarios", which are common in Mexico are promising papers, "Tell people that, yes, there's a new law, you need to get in line, I can handle all your paper work"

Which Congressman Marc Vessey says they can't do. Legislation would make it a crime, like roofer who rips people off after a storm.
