New ACC Highland Campus celebrates Grand Opening

Austin Community College is officially opening it's doors to their new ACC Highland campus at the former Highland Mall. The college's Dorado Kinney says they've renovated 200 thousand square feet of space that used to be a department store, "The former JC Penney's building which is 200 thousand square feet. The main portion of the mall still has shops that are open for business. And soon Rackspace will be going into the former Macy's building." Kinney says the portion opened today is Phase 1. Phase 2 will renovate more of the mall into a workforce center, a STEM simulator lab a culinary center and more classrooms. ACC paid a total of $41.1 million for the entire mall.
