Pedestrian death, crash shut down IH-35 Thursday night

One man is dead and another is taken to UMC Brackenridge with serious injuries in two separate accidents on the I-35 north frontage road in North Austin.

Sergeant Ken Hubbs with the APD says they received a call at about 8:30 last night. It happened right outside the Extended Stay Hotel. Hubbs says the man killed was a black male in his thirties, possible early 40's. That driver is currently being detained. While investigating the incident, another vehicle accident occurred just a few hundred feet from the initial collision. That driver was taken to UMC Brackenridge. Hubbs says they don't yet know if alcohol was involved.
