Pflugerville Man Accused of Hiding Camera in Girl's Room

The Pflugerville Police Department has arrested a man and charged him with invasive visual recording after a hidden camera was found in the room of his 13-year-old step-daughter.
According to an affidavit, the wife of Patrick Kirkland, 48, called 911 after discovering the camera in an air vent. When police arrived, they found the camera, which was also set up for night vision capabilities. The black electrical tape had been placed over part of the camera to cover the light as it recorded.
When confronted, Kirkland initially told police it was his wife who'd installed the camera. He later admitted that it was he who put the camera in the vent but said he installed it six months earlier and never turned it on. However, investigators say the camera was warm to the touch, which was an indication to them that Kirkland was lying and that the camera had been in use very recently.
Kirkland also claimed he put the camera in the vent for "security reasons."
Several other computers and electronic devices have been seized as part of the investigation.
