Police ID Wednesday's murder victim

Austin Police report on Wednesday, March 15, about 12:46 p.m., officers responded to multiple shots fired at 6407 Springdale Rd. Officers located the victim, Ruler Stephon Bailey, 21, who had sustained obvious trauma to his body. A large crowd formed as officers worked to secure the scene. An Officer Needs Assistance call was put out citywide to assist in containing the chaotic scene. Austin-Travis County EMS also arrived and began resuscitation efforts. Bailey was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
On Thursday, March 16, 2017, the Travis County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy. The cause of death was from gunshot wounds. The manner of death was Homicide.
Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and following up on leads.
