Reporter Charged in Crash That Kills One

A Central Texas reporter has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for the death of a man in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night near Bastrop.

DPS Trooper Robbie Barrera says 28-year-old Suzanne Hodgson,  a reporter for the Smithville Times, was driving drunk and speeding when she slammed her SUV into the back of a pickup truck, that was stopped at a red light...causing both vehicles to catch on fire.  The crash pushed the truck into an 18-wheeler.

Barrera says the driver of the pickup, Lorenzo Ruiz died at the scene.  The passenger of the truck, Laura Perez was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Hodgson's bond is 50 thousand dollars bond.

The suspects are tied to at least six burglaries, three auto thefts and multiple package thefts from front porches...
