Round Rock State Representative Larry Gonzales resigns

Round Rock Republican State Representative Larry Gonzales is resigning effective tomorrow. Gonzalez had said this would be his last term and did not file for re-election. The Texas Tribune reports a special election will be held for the remainder of his term which could be in November.

Most notably, Gonzales chaired the Sunset Advisory Commission while also serving on several House committees, as well as the budget-writing Appropriations Committee.

Gonzales, who has been a member since 2011, states that it was time to move on to the next phase of his life.
