The 1555 book Le Relacion is the story of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca’s accidental landing in what is now Texas, and the six year adventure that followed. The book, in its original Spanish and an English translation, is available online for the first time thanks to the Texas State University Witliff Collection. Its literary curator is Steve Davis said “when he landed he was a guy looking for wealth. By the time he finished his experienced with these people he transformed into a fighter for Native American human rights.”
