Proposed improvements to the FM 812 corridor in Travis and Bastrop counties will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming open house hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Dell Valle Opportunity Center, 5301 Ross Road, Del Valle, Texas 78617.

The purpose of the proposed FM 812 project is to improve safety and mobility and accommodate future population growth and land-use development in the area. Potential improvements include

  • Upgrading the existing two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway
  • Dividing the roadway with a center-turn lane in developed areas and a grassy median in undeveloped areas
  • Constructing a new segment of roadway from US 183 to FM 973
  • Enhancing bicycle and pedestrian access with a 10-foot shared-use path

The open house will allow citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed improvement project for FM 812 from US 183 to SH 21. Displays will be available for review and staff will be present to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience.

Comments will be accepted September 12 - October 27 and can be submitted at the open house, by email at FM812@coxmclain.com or by mail to Emily Reed, CMEC, 8401 Shoal Creek Boulevard, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78757.
