UPDATE: RRPD ID man killed; suspect charged with murder

Police identified the victim from the shooting that took place on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 1490 E. Old Settlers Blvd., as  John Lawrence Ammon, 43, of Round Rock.

The suspect, Kendrick Tremayne Newman, 40, of Round Rock, has been charged with Murder, after turning himself in at the Williamson County Jail. 

Police believe there are additional witnesses to this incident who have not come forward. As Detectives continue to investigate this Murder, we ask anyone who may have information to contact police at 512-218-5500.


On Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at approximately 9:25 p.m., Round Rock officers responded to the Wag-A-Bag store located at 1490 E. Old Settlers Boulevard in reference to a disturbance with shots fired. Upon arrival, one deceased male was located. Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and reviewed store surveillance to obtain a suspect description. At this time, there is one suspect in custody.
The victim’s name is withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division continue to investigate this case.
