Woman Killed in West Austin Murder-Suicide

Austin police say a 41-year-old man broke into a woman’s apartment and shot her several times before turning the gun on himself. Sergeant Brian Miller said cops were called to 29-year-old Meaghan Bernier's apartment at 6500 Champion Grandview Way #2006 in West Austin just after 10:30 Sunday night. They found Bernier and Jason Lamb dead on the scene.

Detectives believe Bernier and her 41-year-old attacker dated at one time. Miller said Lamb was the subject of two dating disturbance calls in April and May, but cops did not arrest him at either call.

Bernier moved to Austin last year from the Boston area and was working as a bartender.

The suspect's last known address was in Lampasas, though police believe that he was living with friends somewhere in Austin.
