Hotel security guard arrested for shooting another man to death

A security guard is arrested for shooting and killing a man at a North Austin hotel on Friday.

Robert Earl Goines the second was behind bars for the murder of Jonathan C. Cook. Police responded to shots fired at the Budget Lodge off I-35 near Highway 183. Goines, a security guard at the hotel and Cook argued Friday night at the hotel. APD's Sergeant Jerry Bauzon says Goines admitted to shooting Cook when police arrived, "From what we understand at this point, is that there was a disturbance and Cook was trying to leave as Goines fired his gun."

Goines is being held on $300,000 bond at Travis County Jail.
