Manny Roth, founder of Café Wha?, dead at 94

Manny Roth, founder of the Greenwich Village club Café Wha?, has died. Roth, who gave early breaks to such future superstars as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen, died July 25 at age 94. His daughter, Jodi Roth, said he died of natural causes at his home in Ojai, California. He also worked with Richard Pryor, George Carlin and other comedians. The uncle of Van Halen singer David Lee Roth, he was among the guests at Café Wha? in 2012 when a reunited Van Halen performed there.
