Buckeyes' Braxton Miller to have surgery Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says standout quarterback Braxton Miller will have season-ending shoulder surgery Tuesday. Miller tore the labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder a week ago. The operation will be done by noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Meyer says Miller was voted one of the team's captains for 2014. Joining him are tight end Jeff Heuerman, defensive lineman Michael Bennett and two unrelated players named Grant — defensive back Doran Grant and linebacker Curtis Grant. The Buckeyes open their season Saturday against Navy in Baltimore. J.T. Barrett, a redshirt freshman who has never taken a college snap, will start in Miller's place.
