More than dozen hurt in Amarillo bus accident

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - More than a dozen students have been hurt in a Texas Panhandle traffic accident involving a school bus and a car.

Amarillo police say no students were seriously injured in Thursday afternoon's accident involving a bus hauling Amarillo Independent School District students on a field trip. Police say the bus carried 41 children from de Zavala Middle School and the driver.

Police say 13 students were transported to hospitals, as a precaution. The bus driver declined to be taken to a hospital. The driver of the car that clipped the left front of the bus was also taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Police are trying to determine the cause of the crash.

Another school bus picked up students who weren't hurt.
