Police: Woman charged in kidnapping of neighbor

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Corpus Christi police have arrested a woman they say kidnapped and tortured her neighbor for information about a missing debit card.

Capt. Robert Alvarado says a 26-year-old woman was arrested Saturday afternoon and held on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping. It's unclear if she has been charged.

He says police were called to the Corpus Christi apartment after a person heard a woman screaming for help.

He says the suspect answered the door and told police everything was fine but that a woman behind her mouthed the word "help."

Police say the 48-year-old victim was tied up and had cigarette burns on her arms and legs. The victim told police she had been held for more than two hours.

It's unclear if the victim was hospitalized.
