State could shuffle money to repair roads

A proposal will be floated in the legislature in January to dedicate a health chunk of the vehicle sales tax to road maintenance and construction. State Senator Robert Duncan, who heads up the Senate Transportation Committee, says it would compliment the gas tax to help meet the Texas Department of Transportation budget needs. Duncan is also calling on voters to approve a measure on the ballot in November to spend rainy day fund money on roads. Duncan says Tea Partiers need to realize that transportation is a core function of the State Government.
