Texas Democrats rallied the troops at their state convention in downtown Dallas on Friday night. Some heavy hitters, including gubernatorial nominee Wendy Davis and lieutenant governor candidate Leticia Van de Putte, took the stage, laying out their visions for the future of Texas. More than 5,000 attendees came from all over Texas to hear their leaders speak. Right away, GOP jabs began, which got a lot of cheers.
“Two weeks ago, the Texas tea party, formerly known as the Texas Republican Party, met in Fort Worth, the home of our next governor, Wendy Davis,” said Gilberto Hinojosa, Chair of the Texas Democratic Party. Speeches from elected officials centered on the idea of inclusion; not exclusion.
