VIDEO: Austinites INFURIATED about Drunk Driving problem

The Drunk Driving Symposium discussed how Austin continuously ranks as one of the country's safest cities, but there's a category of crime police say is preventable that they want to eliminate: Traffic crashes caused by drunk driving. "When you're driving home from working at the end of the night, like pretty much everybody on the road is intoxicated. And you know it's a sad fact, but it's the way that Austin operates," said Sara LeVine, founder of ATX Safer Streets.

Callers to Austin's Morning News were adamant about finding solutions to alleviate the problem and are angry that the Austin Police Department is not doing much to solve it. As options for safe rides become more available in the Austin area many residents and police officers believe the same thing is not happening in smaller cities surrounding the capital city.  The issue is becoming more of a concern for police and business owners.
