Wendy Davis reports raising $27M since filibuster

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Democrat Wendy Davis says her run for Texas governor has already raised more money han Bill White did in 2010.

The Fort Worth state senator Tuesday reported raising $27 million over the past year. Her campaign counts more than 140,000 contributors since her star-making filibuster last summer in the Texas Capitol over new abortion restrictions.

White raised more than $26 million as the Democratic nominee four years ago but still lost by double-digits to Gov. Rick Perry.

Davis is a similar underdog against Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott. His campaign had yet to release new fundraising totals that were due Tuesday to the Texas Ethics Commission.

Davis is already spending heavily. Heading into the final four months of the race, she reports having $13.1 million on hand.
