HCISD Parents and Educators shocked and disappointed with a now Ex-Substitute teacher

Tiffani Lankford

Hays CISD Parents are shocked to hear a substitute teacher fired for beating a student could also have a criminal history.

Lawyers for the Students’s family said the now Ex-Substitute teacher Tiffani Lankford allegedly has a history of domestic violence. Hays CISD Dad, Tom, said his son was in the classroom when Lankford beat the teen, he said this dosn’t make sense to him. “I though records were checked, things were supposed to be in place for making sure they have the safest people around these kids. Not someone that’s already got a background.”

In response Hays CISD staffers retort the district is not privy to any such criminal history and they performed all due diligence when hiring on Lankford. Superintendent of School’s Eric Wright said they sent Langford through two background checks. “We ran [her&#93 through the FBI and the DPS and she was eligible to be hired.” Wright continued “and we would never put someone in a classroom that wasn’t vetted properly and that wasn’t eligible.”

Regardless of her history, Wright said the teacher’s actions are unacceptable and in HCISD an anomaly. “We’re here to protect and serve our children and educate them, we’re not here to harm them. So this is really disappointing.”
