City adding electric vehicles to fleet

As part of the push toward more electric vehicles, the City of Austin is expected to add 330 new electric vehicles to its fleet by the end of next year.  Assistant Director of Austin’s Fleet Division Rick Harland says it is something that will save millions over the next decade.

The plan also calls for dozens more electric vehicle charging stations.  He says much of the new infrastructure will be funded through an inter-departmental fuel surcharge.
