Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said major airports may be getting millions of dollars in federal help, but smaller, general aviation airports won’t be forgotten.

This week it was announced that Austin’s airport is getting nearly $59-million to maintain operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said large or small, airports have to be able to keep their staffing levels up.

“If these jobs were lost, the treasury department would also lose the amount of taxes that these workers would have paid, had they been employed.”

So most small airports, like Lago Vista or Lockhart, will see $30,000.  Those a bit larger, like Georgetown and San Marcos will see $157,000.
