FEMA helps Wilco first responders

Williamson County first responders have a new option for quarantining.

First Assistant Auditor Julie Kiley said FEMA will reimburse the county for use of the Holiday Inn Express in Cedar Park, specifically for, “a first responder in a setting other than their home, potentially.” But some like Commissioner Russ Boles wants it to be clear that this isn’t an option for just anyone. He said, “This is for Williamson County first responders.”

The funding will pay for a $79 room rate, but unlike Austin, which has spent millions on rooms still not in use, Williamson County will only spend the money if a room is needed.
