The Austin school district will begin classes three weeks later than originally planned.
That vote coming early this morning after the board got hours of public testimony. Plenty of parents like what AISD is doing in regard to reopening, but plenty others do not. Some critics say kids can’t thrive behind a computer screen with no social interaction.
AISD has opted to begin on September 8, go four weeks online, and is asking the TEA for an additional four weeks after that. Ten minutes have also been added on to each day.
