APD Investigating Daylight robbery of East Austin Gamestop

Gamestop theft suspect

Austin Police are on the lookout for a pair of men in connection to a broad daylight robbery of a East Austin Gamestop. Investigators say they need your help. They explain one the men insinuated he had a gun and demanded money, after grabbing some out of the registers he ran away, no one was hurt. The other man was seen speaking with the suspect prior to the robbery.

The Austin Police Department (APD) Robbery Unit is requesting the community’s assistance with an ongoing robbery investigation. The incident occurred at the GameStop located at 1030 Norwood Park Boulevard at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

The suspect, described and pictured below, entered the store where he spent about 20 minutes talking with employees about ordering merchandise. While waiting for his order to be processed, the suspect quietly talked with another customer, also pictured and described below. That individual left the store immediately after the exchange at which time the suspect approached two store employees who were standing at the counter. The male gestured that he had a firearm under his sweatshirt while he demanded money. He reached into the registers and retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect may have fled in a dark, hatchback-style Mercedes.

The store employees were physically uninjured.

  • Approximately 5’8”
  • Medium build
  • Estimated to be in his 30s
  • Crew cut hairstyle
  • Last seen wearing green printed shirt underneath grey sweatshirt with black and white lettering that reads ECKO UNLIMITED, dark-color jogger pants, black athletic shoes with white trim on the sole, and black COVID-19 mask with red lettering

Detectives are interested in speaking with this individual who was seen talking with the suspect just prior to the robbery:

  • Last seen wearing a red hoodie, purple and white hat, dark-color pants, red shoes and multi-color COVID-19 mask
