APD Releases Identity of Man Wanted for Child Sexual Assault

The Austin Police Department has released the identity of a man wanted in connection to the sexual assault of a young girl in early April.

According to reports, Uzziel Eduardo Garcia Cabrera allegedly grabbed the 11-year-old girl as she was walking away from the pool area of the Sophia Apartments on Willow Creek Drive.  Detectives reviewed surveillance video, which they say showed Cabrera grabbing the child and holding her close to his body. A few residents confronted him and told him to leave, and he was last seen fleeing on foot.

Garcia is described as:
•Hispanic male
•36-years-old
•5’5” tall
•220 lbs.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the APD Child Abuse tip line at (512) 974-6880. A tip can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program online at austincrimestoppers.org, or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
