Hoping to hold on to as many teachers and staff as possible, Austin superintendent Stephanie Elizalde has proposed $1000 retention bonuses for all full-time employees and staff who make up to $150,000.
For part-time employees, she has proposed a $500 bonus and all would be eligible for that. Elizalde says she has made this a priority due to the ongoing work employees have been putting in throughout the pandemic. Her proposal is on Thursday night’s school board agenda and if it is approved, those bonuses will be sent out next month.
