As distracted driving remains a problem on roadways across Texas, the City of Austin is looking to offer drivers cash prizes for keeping their hands off of their phones while behind the wheel.  In partnership with State Farm Insurance and Farm & City, the city is hosting a competition where residents in the Greater Austin area can win up to $10,000.

The competition involves the use of the Safe 2 Save app, which monitors how many times a driver touches his or her phone while driving. Scores will be based on the frequency of that phone interaction.

At the end of the competition, all drivers who have a score of 98 or above will be entered into a drawing to win the following prizes:

•$3000 for first place
•$2,000 for second place
•$1000 for third place

In addition, one driver will be drawn once a week to win $500.

To enter the competition, participants can download the app for free for both Apple and Android devices either in their respective app stores, or by CLICKING HERE.  Enter the competition code: AUSTIN2021.
