Austin Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Suspect

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, officers with the Austin Police Department responded to a call in regards to a hit-and-run at the intersection of Lavaca St and W. Cesar Chavez St.  Two people were hit and both are in the hospital with serious injuries.

After hitting the victims, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid. Instead, the driver sped away north on Lavaca St., turned east onto W. 4th St., and then drove north on Congress Ave. Camera footage shows the driver ran several red lights and went around multiple pedestrians.
