Kyle Economic Development has announced that Nitro Swimming, which is being called the “premier home for swim lessons and competitive swim teams with indoor, climate controlled state-of-the-art swim centers,” is coming to Kyle.

Nitro Swimming will break ground on the approximately 40,000 square foot building that will be located on the east side of FM 1626 north of Kohlers Crossing in January of 2022, with a grand opening slated for late 2022.

The swim center will feature two pools — an instructional pool and Olympic size competition pool — an abundance of indoor deck space, a climate-controlled viewing area, and will have the capability to host various swim meets with approximately 400-500 athletes and room for spectators, officials said.

“We are excited to have a business like Nitro Swimming join our growing and thriving business community,” Kyle Economic Development Director Diana Blank-Torres said. “They are bringing a unique industry of destination recreation as well as a top tier swim safety center to our region that will further strengthen our local economic diversity.”

Nitro was formed in August of 2006 by Mike and Tracy Koleber. Over the last several years, Nitro Swimming has become a major provider of lessons and training in the Austin area — offering programs for everyone from 6 months old to adults — as well as a top competitive swim team, ranking as the 15-time Texas Age Group Swimming Champions.

“Nitro’s mission statement is very straightforward and we live by it every day: ‘Visible improvement, delivered with passion and joy, every day,’” Mike Koleber said. “Our goal is to make each swimmer a little better every day and it doesn’t matter who that swimmer is — a beginner or a competitive athlete.”
