Democrats Make No Progress in Flipping Texas House

There was a big push by Texas democrats to secure victory and gain control of the Texas House of Representatives, which has eluded democrats since 2003. Candidates such as Wendy Davis, Mike Siegel, Donna Imam, and Julie Oliver all hoped to flip seats held by Republican incumbents, but all of those efforts failed.

Republican Congressmen Chip Roy, Roger Williams, Michael McCaul, and John Carter all won, although some of those races went back and forth before the winner was determined.

Also winning was former Republican Congressman Pete Sessions, who will return to Washington representing a different district that stretches into parts of Northwest Austin.
