Following days of power outages caused by last week’s winter storm, Austin Energy made progress throughout the week as tens of thousands of customers saw their power restored.

More than 95% of Austin Energy customers had power as of Monday morning. As much of the restoration has been completed, the utility has shifted its focus to smaller, more detailed outages that continue to impact thousands.

“We are now focusing on the most complicated and time-consuming restoration efforts,” the utility said in a press release. “Those efforts will continue to be challenging due to forecasted wind and rain. Based on current information, we expect to restore power to nearly all remaining customers by Sunday, February 12, with the exception of those in need of electrical repairs to customer-owned or maintained equipment. This estimation is based on the following factors: rate of restoration since the start of the storm, number of workers involved in the restoration process, a more complete damage assessment, and weather.”

The City of Austin is working with community partners to assist those in need of emergency shelter.
