A Pflugerville police officer is on paid administrative leave following a shooting early Wednesday morning at a home in the 1000 block of Lanark Loop. Officers had already responded to multiple disturbance calls at that home.
A 911 caller reported that a man who lived in the home was armed and actively trying to break down a door. That call came through at 12:04 a.m., and by 12:08 a.m. police had arrived on the scene. Moments later, one officer opened fire on the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Pflugerville Police Department has called in the Texas Rangers and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office Public Integrity Unit to lead the investigation. Their investigation will include review of body worn camera video.
An update will be provided when further information is available, officials said.
