The  community of Maxwell is mourning the loss of two of its firefighters this week.

According to officials with the City of Lockhart, police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Park Rd. and San Jacinto St. on Monday involving a fire truck and another vehicle. Reports say a woman driving southbound on San Jacinto St. when her car was struck by a Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department brush truck as she turned onto State Park Rd. The brush truck rolled over, killing the two firefighters. The woman in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The firefighters are reportedly brothers, identified as Assistant Fire Chief Jonathan Coco and Hunter Coco.

Lockhart Police, with the help of the Texas Department of Public Safety, are examining what led to the crash.  LPD filed a summons for failing to yield right-of-way for the woman. A summons is similar to a citation.
