Austin Man Voluntarily Turns in AK-47 to Police

  • An Austin man, going only by “Billy”, turned in his AK-47 to police
  • Billy said he had been thinking about turning in the gun for a while and decided to do so due to the recent mass shootings in Texas
  • Referring to his firearm as an assault weapon, Billy took his weapon to a local police station
  • A gun owner since the age of 10, Billy felt he needed to turn in his gun to get weapons like that off the streets
  • Billy feels by turning in his gun, he may inspire others to do the same as waiting for Congress to do something could be a long time before the next tragedy
