One person hospitalized after a North Austin CapMetro Train v Car crash

One person is in the hospital following an SUV and Capital metro train crashing into one another in North Austin around 11 this morning. Officials are investigating and say CapMetro Staff called in first responders for the SUVs passenger, while for the few commuter’s on the train, a lift to their next destination.

 

Official statement:

“At about 11 a.m. today, there was a collision involving a MetroRail train and personal vehicle at a crossing in North Austin. The CapMetro team immediately called for emergency services to assist. A few customers were on the train and they are being transported to their destinations. One passenger in the private vehicle has been transported to a nearby hospital. We will conduct a comprehensive safety review of this incident, and we will support our partners at the Austin Police Department to fully assess this incident and any next steps.”
