The Travis County GOP Chairman is under fire from the Agricultural Commissioner for conflict of interest.

Commissioner Sid Miller is calling for Matt Makowiak to resign from the TCRP because Makowiak is working as a press director for Miller's opponent Trey Blocker and doesn't believe there will be an impartial primary in March. Makowiak says he's not going anywhere. "I actually saw Commissioner Miller on Monday night. He attended our Travis County GOP Christmas party, which I invited him to attend. He didn't express any concerns to me at that party, I wish he had. I would have answered any questions."

Makowiak says he's appointed Michael Morris to be the Primary administrator. "There is no conflict of interest in my duties as chairman and with my profession, which is separate. I will again promise to be completely impartial for all Republican campaigns through my duties as TCRP Chairman."

Makowiak says he has much support from county GOP Precinct chairs. "My current term lasts through June of next year 2018, and since I'm unopposed I'll be elected to a term through June of 2020." He adds, "So, no I'm not going to resign."
