The Austin Police Department, Region 1, Property Crimes Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for Theft, State Jail Felony. On October 28, 2017, the victim saw an ad on Craigslist for an RV for sale. She contacted the suspect, made arrangements to purchase the RV and mailed the suspect a cashier’s check. The suspect cashed the check at a local bank in Austin, Texas. The victim and suspect arranged to meet so the victim could take ownership of the RV, but the suspect never showed and has cut all contact with the victim.

Surviellance photos of the suspect cashing the cashier’s check are below:

APD wants to remind the public to be vigilant when purchasing anything online and provides the following safety tips:

  • Research the seller as much as possible
  • Arrange to meet in person, if possible, in a public place and take a friend with you
  • Be aware when asked to mail a cashier’s check – this is a red flag for a possible scam
  •  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
  • If something doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts

Anyone with information is asked to call Region 1 Property Detectives at 512-974-5320. You can also submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.
