Every Austin Police Officer in all sectors has been wearing a body camera for at least six months now, some longer. Today the Austin Public Safety Commission will get an update from APD about body cameras. At a commission meeting earlier this year, ACLU Texas’ Matt Simpson called for cops and citizens to get together on them.
Simpson had wanted to see members of the public be able to speak to a cop without being recorded on camera as well as for more transparency and access to the footage.
