Attempted Arson at the North Austin Muslim Community Center

An attempted arson of the North Austin Muslim Center has Austin fire and police investigators on the hunt for the man responsible. AFD Chief Joel Baker said AFD is committed to keeping out communities safe and to find this person and charge them to full extent of the law.

Officials say the man was caught on camera dumping gas cans along the Muslim community center and throwing lit papers in an attempt to ignite a fire, but failed. Police have ramped up their presence around the area as a result.
