The Austin City Council runoff election is a little more than two weeks away and District 8 remains one of the most-watched. The seat, which is being vacated by the council’s lone conservative Ellen Troxclair, will be filled by either democrat Paige Ellis or conservative Frank Ward. Mayor Steve Adler and local democrats are rallying around Ellis, while the private sector business community is throwing support toward Ward. Ward has also gotten the endorsement of the police and fire unions, as well as the Austin Board of Realtors.
