Austin City Council approves mobility and safety improvements

Nine major Austin Corridors are getting more mobility and safety improvements after Austin City Council approved them today.

Corridors including North and South Lamar, Guadalupe, Burnet Road, Airport Road, MLK, Riverside, William Cannon and Slaughter are getting improvements according to Mike Trimble with the Transportation Department.

Those improvements include upgraded signals and intersections, new bike lanes and sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and more.

It’s all being paid for out of $482 million dollars from the 2016 Mobility Bond. 

They hope to begin construction next year.
