Austin LGBT Families Come Together

Just as President Donald Trump pulled Obama-era LGBT protections, hours beforehand a huddled mass of Austinites gathered to help families ease into a new life with a child in the LGBT community. 

LGBT youth not accepted by their families have a greater chance of drug usage, homelessness, and depression. As groups start railing against the President's latest actions, one LGBT group focused on families stepping into their world as their kids came out of the closet. The Strong Family Alliance's Janet Duke said communication is paramount for families going through this transition. 

"One of the things that stays the same is worrying about who their kids hang out with," Duke said.
