Austin vets going to Puerto Rico

Next month, about a dozen vets and assistants from Austin's Emancipet are going to Puerto Rico as part of a national coalition to help island residents with their animals' post-hurricane medical needs. CEO Amy Mills says they'll set up a M*A*S*H style surgical center to perform spay and neutering and other surgical services free of charge.

The trips are being paid for by grants from animal foundations like Petsmart and others but Emancipet is also fund-raising on their website.
