Austin Police report about 5:40 pm, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, a suspect passed a demand note through the drive-thru at the University Federal Credit Union located at 13860 North U.S. Highway 183. Before bank staff could respond, the suspect left the scene. No money was taken and no one was injured.

At approximately 5:48 p.m., the same suspect entered the Chase Bank located at 12858 North U.S. Highway 183. The suspect made an inquiry with staff about a loan before presenting another demand note. Employees went to a secure area of the bank and called police. Again, the suspect left the scene without receiving any money.

The next day, about 3 pm officers responded to a disturbance call at 12300 Hymeadow Drive. The responding officer made contact with the suspect, Shawn Hunter. Upon making contact with Hunter, the officer noticed the resemblance of the suspect’s appearance and vehicle to that of the suspect in the bank robberies from the previous day. Hunter was detained and interviewed by robbery detectives and subsequently confessed to his participation in both robberies. He is currently in custody at Williamson County Jail.
