Confederate named Austin school renamed

The IDEA Austin Charter School named for Confederate Army Officer John T. Allan has been renamed IDEA Montopolis. IDEA, a charter school operator, took over the Allan Elementary campus in 2012 after a short-lived partnership with AISD; amid vehement protest. The district is expected to rename other Confederate-named campuses later this Fall.
