The Round Rock Independent School District is one of more than 13,000 school districts and universities across America to be impacted by a data breach. Specifically, officials say an educational software company known as Pearson was the actual target, but Pearson is one of the Round Rock district’s third-party vendors.
Reports say the bulk of the information that was compromised was names. However, officials say there were some birthdays and email addresses from 2001 to 2016 that were also exposed.
District officials have contacted, or will contact all who have been affected. They will also be given free credit monitoring.
