Flames Engulf Another Cap Metro Bus

Capital Metro bus

For the second time this month, a Capital Metro bus has caught fire, causing numerous traffic headaches in the process.

On Tuesday, just north of Brush Creek Road, the bus erupted in flames shortly after 4:30 p.m., leading to the closure of two of the three southbound lanes of 183A in Cedar Park, according to police.  Only the driver was on the bus at the time, and no injuries were reported.  Nearly an hour later, fire crews had the fire snuffed out and a tow truck was called in.

Capital Metro bus fire

This is the second fire this month involving a Capital Metro bus.  On July 7, a bus erupted into flames at South Congress and Oltorf, causing its own set of problems for commuters.

Back in July of 2018, a Capital Metro bus caught fire following a crash on the northbound side of 183A, forcing the closure of all lanes.  Nine people were taken to the hospital for treatment.  Capital Metro was forced to yank 28 of its buses out of service for inspection following that blaze.
